GUARDING THE RHYTHM OF THE TEAM

A song is made up of many instruments. In some cases, we have a singer and single instrument which meld to make music to make your heart ache. And then there is the orchestra. Their arpeggios and crescendos and scales can have buildings trembling on their foundations. To make such a huge impact, we need not one but all to move the emotion of the music to new heights.
In a band, which is on a much smaller scale, each team member has a responsibility. There are the instrument players, the dancers, the majorettes, and then there are the color guards. Just as an entire orchestra comes together to reach new heights of music, it is the responsibility of the color guard to interpret the music and provide a visual aspect of the music using flags, poles, rifles and even sabers.
Colors of your team
Color guards have the responsibility of keeping the audience on their toes, interpreting the change of music with synchronized dance and spinning their flags. Color guard uniforms represent the school colors and are in coordination with the marching band uniforms. Usually more creative than the band uniforms, their outfits, shoes and gloves complete the whole look of band spirit and boost the image of the marching band.
Color guard outfits need to be designed along with the marching band uniforms and need to be of the best quality since their interpretation of music into dance requires for their outfits to control the stretches and moves and are readily available online stores offering high-quality uniforms such as bandmans.com.
Raise the flag
Color guards dance with flags to create a more likable aspect with the music, twirling it with finesse in time with their steps. These flags are not flags of their institution or their teams but are large and crafted in eye-catching colors and abstract designs. Color guard flags even have different types of poles to carry them which are made in accordance with the flags and their uniforms.
Poles made from rubber, plastic, fiberglass and aluminum carry flags of different fabrics. A good quality pole needs to be used by the color guards because during a dance, the flag pole is spun, tossed and struck to the ground in steps with the dance and if a pole breaks than another flag cannot be used, otherwise the illusion of the whole scene is disturbed.
Winter guard
Winter guard uniforms are a bit different than that of the color guards. Winter guard outfits are usually of muted colors since they already have the eyes of the audience on them. Winter guard outfits, complete with their gloves and shoes, need to be of good quality. One problem however, is that, unlike a marching band uniform which can be replaced even mid-march, a winter guard uniform cannot since the routine can’t be stopped midway.
